The Decca Tapes
So let’s start at the beginning on 1/1/62 with the Beatles failed the audition now known as The Decca Tapes. These recordings have Pete Best on drums.
- "Money (That's What I Want)" Released in 1959 by Tamla Records by Barrett Strong
- "Till There Was You" written by Meredith Wilson and appears in the musical “The Music Man”
- "The Sheik of Araby" is a song that was written by Harry B. Smith, Francis Wheeler and music by Ted Snyder in 1921. It was composed in response to the popularity of the Rudolph Valentino film The Sheik. In 1926 it received new lyrics by Billy Rose and was retitled "That Night in Araby".
- "To Know Her Is to Love Her" is a song written by Phil Spector, recorded by his first band, the Teddy Bears. It went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in 1958.
- "Take Good Care of My Baby" is a song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin and made famous by Bobby Vee, released in 1961
- "Memphis, Tennessee" Chuck Berry song released in 1959 on the Chess Records label
- "Sure to Fall (In Love with You)" is a Carl Perkins song recorded in December 1955
- "Three Cool Cats" is a Coasters song released in 1958
- "Crying, Waiting, Hoping", Buddy Holly song released in 1959 as the B-side to Peggy Sue Got Married
- “September in the Rain" The song was published in 1937.The song was introduced by James Melton in the film Melody for Two. It has become a standard, recorded by many artists since.
- "Bésame Mucho” is a Spanish language song written in 1940 by Mexican Consuelo Velázquez before her sixteenth birthday.
- "Searchin” is a song written by Leiber and Stoller specifically for The Coasters. It was released as a single on Atco Records in March 1957, it reached #3 on the national pop singles chart
