Dovedale Road

Dovedale Road

by Keith Johnson
(Leeds England)

Its my claim to fame. My name is Keith Johnson and I am 67 years old, I spent my first ten years in Liverpool before moving to Leeds in 1952 with my parents and I used to live in Karslake Road which is off Penny Lane and went to Dovedale Road primary school which was off the other side of Penny Lane. Moving on to 1962 and I was in the Leeds Mecca dance hall when the resident disc jockey ( SIR JIMMY SAVILLE ) first played LOVE ME DO it was an amazing sound and you knew THE BEATLES (never heard of them) were going to be big. Of course when we got to know where they were from Liverpool and I found out where abouts they were from, yes you've guessed it I was at school with John and George. George was in my class being about 5 months younger than me and John was about 18 months older. And of course I new where they all lived and also knew St Peters church at Woolton very well it was quite exciting reading about the places I knew so well and telling people that I used to go to school with 2 of this new group THE BEATLES.Exciting times followed with the explosion of Liverpool groups following, but alas my big regret was I never got to see them when they came to the Leeds Odean I could'nt afford it and have regretted it eversince. SO THATS THE END OF MY STORY, I WOULD STILL LOVE TO SEE PAUL McCARTNEY

I think it is so awesome you went to school with George and John. George was my favorite and wonder if you knew him very well, or just in passing? I also wrote on here, check my story out at:

It is always wonderful to hear about people's memories about anything when it comes to The Beatles!
