March 1980, the Dakota. I accompanied a friend who was head of the plumbing union in charge of a team constructing a sauna in one of the Lennon's bathrooms. We were brought up to the apartment in a tiny elevator by one of the guards. On the door was a small plaque that read "Nutopian Embassy". We were met at the door by one of the housekeepers and led into a large kitchen. My friend went off to do what he was there to do, leaving me to wander around. (I was dressed as a "union rep" too). After using the bathroom (I had to, even though I really didn't "have to")I turned a corner and there was John, coming down the all white hallway. (in fact, most of the rooms I saw were all white). There was a lot going on everywhere( was told later by one of the housekeepers that they were just about to leave for FLorida). John asked me if I was with the crew. I barely managed "yes". All he said was..."Make sure they don't scare my cats", and he was off. (I saw 2 or 3 large cats while I was there). Then he was gone. Before we left, we were standing in the kitchen and around the corner comes Sean (5 yrs old) on his tricycle. (The part of the apartment I was in was huge). My fiend, who had been to the apartment several times, asked Sean if would show me his room. I followed him into a large loft like room. There was an enormous bean bag thing in the middle (his bed) with a rope above, suspended from the very high ceiling. He showed us how he swung around on it. On one of the walls, there was a very large mural. The mural was a painting of John, Yoko and Sean dressed as superheroes, flying through the air. I also noticed posters of Donna Summer in several places and a few of her albums.
