Paul Saltzman Books

The next book I’d like to present and review comes from my friend Paul Saltzman, who I have referred to as “the luckiest man in the world”, due to the fact that he showed up at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram in India at the same time that the Beatles were there. Talk about stepping in S__t!. Paul got to know the boys somewhat, as they were very comfortable with all the guests in the compound, including Mia Farrow and her sister Prudence (yes, Dear Prudence was written about her), Mike Love and Donovan. Paul even snapped a few photos that some 30 years later, when his daughter reminded him that he taken them, he found them to be in pristine condition. Paul took these photos and published his book “Beatles in Rishikesh (Penguin Studio Books) ” in 2000 and has since become a reluctant celebrity. These pictures now adorn the John Lennon Airport in Liverpool and you might have seen them on the backdrop during Paul McCartney’s Coachella set.

Paul Saltzman appeared on two of my Pop Go the Beatles episodes and I have had the good fortune to meet him at one of his travelling “Beatles in Rishikesh” lectures. If this “Beatles Happening” ever comes to your town make sure you get out to see it. His passion for this product is evident and the pictures he has taken are exceptional. I am the owner of an autographed copy of his book and two of his photographs proudly hang in my den. You can purchase his photographs for your home, as well…go to our Beatles Photographers, Paul Saltzman section for all the details or his website to purchase his book or his pictures @ www.thebeatlesinindia.com
