Something About Layla

It’s really a wild and crazy world we live in and the more you dabble with celebrity types the wilder and crazier it gets. Here’s a story involving Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Carlos Santana, Nazis, spies and secret military societies. I’m a member of a social group called the Classic Rockers Network. Nice group of people who share their love for Classic Rock and Roll. One day I get an email that reads:

Hey Woody,
I noticed that you have the song "Something" as being written for Patti Boyd, that's not correct tho she eats it up. I ask George about that while dancing with him in the 80s while he sang "Run So Far" to me. The conversation was sorta like:

Me: "Can I ask you something, it's a little personal?"

George: "yes."

Me: "I don't think you wrote "Something" for Patti? Did you?"

George: "No."

I'll be putting that in my book that I hope I get out this summer. I also turned down a fling with George, but he was my fav.

I suggest to the woman who calls herself ClaptonLayla (but lists her real name on her Classic Rockers profile as Debra Hunter) that she put the story on my Share Your Beatles section of my website and she posts this:

It was Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana that I was seeing when I was a school girl in Poplar Bluff, Mo. located over the Missouri bootheel area. Eric wanted me to meet some of his circle of friends that he knew I would like to meet. The story I'll tell now is the one that I'll be putting in my book. I think I first met The Beatles in 1970 or 71 and think they came to my hometown a couple more times with Eric, I don't have a good memory. In 1984/5 I had just told Eric I wasn't going to marry him and he came to Ft Worth Tx and brought George with him. We were in a country and western club on Cooper St in Arlington Tx near Dallas. At the time Cooper St was the fastest growing street in the country, it was like a boom town on that stretch of highway and the club was switching over to rock n roll or modern music. I was trying to dance with George and he wasn't moving. He started singing, "Run So Far" to me which is a symbolic meaning to me, symbolic like in the bible. He wanted to go beat someone up that was involved in organized crime and I wouldn't let him do that, I begged him not to fight." Then I asked, "Can I ask you something a little personal?" George said, "Yes." I asked him, "I don't think you wrote "Something" about Patti did you?" and he said, "No." I said, "Can I ask you something else?" George said, "Yes." I asked, "Did you love Patti?" George said, "Yes." (Eric was wanting to divorce her at the time) Then he asked me to see him. He said, "It's revenge, you know, on Eric." We laughed it off but Eric heard what we were saying and he went after George and I stopped him. Eric said, "I know what he said." I said, "You heard me tell him no so leave him alone." I don't know who was filming us I guess it was some of Eric people or the local media. I think I just saw George one more time a few months after that; he came to thank me for something I did. He was like a good friend, I don't know how anyone could not liked George. I pictured him as a brother to everyone and I cherish that. He was soft spoken, good natured and well mannered and I cryed for everything that went wrong in his life. I loved him like a bunch of other people loved him and I miss him.

Now, I'm intrigued and do a little research on her and find her on a website called "Who's Dating Who" (the picture on her Classic rockers profile and this website are the same) where it gives a brief biography of her.

Debra Hunter: "Founder of Missouri Militia One a top secret unit.

Debra, Eric Clapton and others halted a Nazi bloody coup in the USA, the shocking untold story of spies, tortures, mass graves and deception will be told in her bio due out next year against FBI request. She has been described as a child prodigy from a very early age. Miss Hunter wrote the smash hit Layla for Clapton at his request."

Good Golly Miss Mollie...what have I stumbled into? She wrote Layla? This cannot be. I’ve read both Pattie Boyd and Eric Clapton’s autobiographies and their stories both say that Eric wrote it to try and persuade Pattie to leave George Harrison and go with Eric. It was based on the Persian love story of Layla and Majnun.

So I do a little more research and I turn up on website called S9.com that has even more details about Debra Hunter.

Debra Hunter: 1969- She is a true patriot of civil defense and founder of Missouri Militia One an ultra secret unit for intelligence gathering while still in Jr. High School. General X volunteered to be her general, he and Debra each suffered being tortured. Her sealed final order to General X was to disband the unit and the name of it if the government got involved in covering up what they had uncovered about government corruption and to pursue changes in laws pertaining to organized criminal activity. Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana ask to meet with her leading to both men joining her unit to gather evidence about organized crime in Hollywood. Though still underground today the units tactics is used as a covert espionage training tool. The progress they made into busting organized pedophile rings goes unequaled. The term Invisible Curtain originated in her county to describe the human trafficking in the sex industry. Being a victim of that trafficking she is the perfect spokesperson on behalf of the missing and exploited persons. Saving a multitude of lives Ms Hunter was to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize until the FBI stopped that for the sake of cover-up of mass murder by the secret government.

1970- She was nicknamed Layla by Mr. Clapton who asked her to write him a song and name his next band, she wrote the song "Layla" and named his band Derek and the Dominoes.

1971- Her album "Dressed in Love" by Layla Cries was financed by Mr. Clapton.  Included on the album was The Beatles hit "Don't Let Me Down." Mr. Clapton and Mr. Santana made an unreleased Debeers diamond commercial with her after Clapton paid one million dollars for a diamond and ruby crown for her.  She made contact with foreign intelligence on syndicated crime for the first time and expanded their knowledge not only outside of the state but outside of the nation.

1974- She had a son with Mr. Santana then a set of twins and has two sets of twins with Mr. Clapton.

Now...I'm starting to sweat...I mean "She wrote Layla...named Derek and the Dominoes...has 2 sets of twins with Eric and one with Santana...who the hell is this woman?

So I contact Bobby Whitlock who is a Facebook friend and a very frequent poster and ask him this question:

Bobby,
"I've run into a woman who claims to have written Layla for Eric and to have given Derek and The Dominoes their name. Her name is Debra. Can you give me some insight into the writing of the song.

Bobby writes me back very quickly with

"That woman is a nutty as a fruit cake!...BW"

And to back that up here is his story of how the band got named I found an interview with Bobby Whitlock, from 1994, that appeared on the Songfacts website:

"We were going to call ourselves The Dynamics. That was the one we came up with since we couldn't think of a name. Our very first gig was Dr. Spock's Lyceum. Ashton, Gardner and Dyke opened it up for us. Tony Ashton, real funny guy, was going to introduce us, but we didn't have a name, so we said, "Well, we're The Dynamics." We used to call each other nicknames, and Eric was "Derek," so we said, "How about Derek and The Dynamics." He said, "That's fine" and went out on stage to introduce us - he said "Ladies and gentlemen, Derek And The Dominoes." My heart went to the floor, I couldn't believe it. I could see myself in a zoot suit - we'd be wearing one color suit and Eric would be wearing another. Where I grew up, if the name was The Dominoes, you were going to be wearing matching suits. That was the first thing that flashed through my mind, but it stuck, and that was that. That was the first time we were ever called Derek And The Dominoes, but always after that.

So I publish this little story and Debra writes to me “Remove the smut!" and decides to remove her profile from the Classic Rockers network. She also will not return my emails…what a surprise.

So what do I think? After looking a little more closely at the two websites where I found the write-ups about Debra and one more called The Illuminati-News.com, which has a very extensive interview with her, I realized that this is one wild and crazy world.

Supposedly this Debra Hunter does have a book coming out someday, if the government will let her print it. I guess I'll have to read it!

And there you have the story called “Something About Layla”
