Abbey Road In My Life

Abbey Road In My Life

by Robin

This is an age old question and one that I can never really answer. My favorite changes depending on my mood. For the early songs that touched my life the most would have to be If I Fell or This Boy because that's when I truly fell in love with John, I think. His voice just captured my heart, never to end. Even though he was the first one I set my sights on from Day 1 (declaring that he would be mine someday, haha), when I got older, it was the music more than anything else that cemented it for me. But there's another song that means a lot to me too and that's In My Life. I feel like that song is timeless and the lyrics ring as true today as they did from when they were written. I tend to like John's songs the most. Maybe it has something to do with my favoritism, not sure, but I Am the Walrus, Strawberry Fields, etc., etc., epitomize Beatles to me.
My favorite album would probably have to be Abbey Road. When non-Beatles fans ask me, what makes the Beatles so great?, I tell them to put on Side B of Abbey Road and they'll hear for themselves. Simply irresistable.

You Beat Me By Two Years

Robin,
I didn't get to see the Beatles either, Too Young my mother said, just like yours. But when Wings Over America hit the US in May of 1976, I was there at, of all places, Madison Square Garden (you can only imagine the crowd's reaction when he sang "At The Madison" during the concert's opening song "Rock Show"). You can see a scan of that show's ticket on our Beatles Concert Tickets page. I've seen him 8 times, George once and Ringo twice. Never got to see John but did see Julian at the Beacon Theater in NYC during his first tour.

Thanks For Dropping By and Sharing Your Stories

Woody
